HMS National charged Starmark with transforming their Website to confirm them as the nation's leader in home appliance and system warranties for consumers and real estate professionals. There were several significant challenges that we successfully addressed in redesigning the site -- creating a real-time online enrollment system, migrating content from the old site and reorganizing the new site into a more natural structure for customers.
A major component of the new site is the real-time online enrollment system. The new system required integration of HMS's Oracle database and a coordination of several software components, including the latest version of Lasso by OmniPilot Software. Starmark built a SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) application layer to exchange XML-based warranty plan information over a VPN to the Web server. That makes it possible to return thousands of plans and options based on the home's location and selections in real time.
